Today there is a growing awareness that many breast cancer patients each year could be spared chemotherapy or get gentler versions of it without hurting their chances for survival. "We are backing off on chemotherapy and using chemotherapy more selectively" in certain women, said Dr. Eric Winer of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
There are two main types of breast cancer: Ductal carcinoma starts in the tubes (ducts) that move milk from the breast to the nipple. Most breast cancers are of this type; Lobular carcinoma starts in parts of the breast, called lobules, that produce milk. In rare cases, breast cancer can start in other areas of the breast. Many breast cancers are sensitive to the hormone estrogen. This means that estrogen causes the breast cancer tumor to grow. Such cancer is called estrogen receptor positive cancer or ER positive cancer. Some women have what´s called HER2-positive breast cancer. HER2 refers to a gene that helps cells grow, divide, and repair themselves. When cells have too many copies of this gene, cells - including cancer cells - grow faster. Experts think that women with HER2-positive breast cancer have a more aggressive disease and a higher risk of recurrence than those who do not have this type.
Yet a thousand miles to the south at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida we have a team of researchers saying that even if breast cancer tumors are very small (1 centimeter or less), certain kinds of breast cancer tumors can still be aggressive and require maximum therapy. Dr. Surabhi Amar head researcher of the team admitted though that, "This is a small study, and so we can´t make treatment recommendations from it, but it appears that biology and not only size matters when it comes to selecting therapy for small, invasive tumors.” Dr. Amar noted there are no definitive treatment guidelines for breast cancer tumors less than one centimeter in size, because most studies include women with larger tumors or with breast cancer that´s spread to the lymph nodes. "We just don´t have extensive data on tumors this small, so treatment becomes a matter of physician discretion," Amar said.
Chemo usually is added if the disease has spread to lymph nodes — a situation faced by about 45,000 U.S. women each year. Doctors know that chemo won´t help most of these women but they give it to them anyway. One drug commonly used for early breast cancer — doxorubicin, sold as Adriamycin and generic brands — is known to cut the risk of having a recurrence or dying, but raises the risk of heart problems and even leukemia.
A study in the New England Journal of Medicine in October showed that another drug, Taxol, does not work for the most common form of breast cancer. There are so many reasons to give up on chemotherapy but oncologists fear giving up on a treatment that they have been trained to use and make a lot of money using. It’s very hard to turn the ship of oncology around even after evidence clearly shows a treatment is not safe or effective. In the chapter on Transdermal Iodine and the Treatment of Breast Cancer we combine transdermal magnesium treatments with transdermal iodine treatments to the breasts. When combined with sodium bicarbonate, selenium, ALA and clay packs one can readily beat this beastly serial killer of women, which breast cancer is. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women (after lung cancer). The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2005, about 211,240 women were diagnosed with breast cancer — and 40,410 died from the disease.
Breast cancer survivors of chemotherapy are facing increased risk of heart disease; so much so that at least some doctors are debating if it´s time to abandon a chemotherapy mainstay. Drugs called anthracyclines are a breast chemo staple despite the well-known risk: They weaken women´s hearts. "In the process of curing their breast cancer, we´ve exposed them to some pretty nasty things. And it´s not just one nasty thing, it´s a sequence of nasty things," explains Dr. Pamela Douglas, a Duke University cardiologist.
Dr. Russell Blaylock is warning women about the orthodox ontological approach including its use of mammograms because they are dangerous and cancer provoking of the radiation being used. Most women depend upon that yearly mammogram to warn them of possible breast cancer. Yet, as Dr. Blaylock points out, studies show mammograms actually increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer from 1-3% per year, depending on the technique used. Now that may not sound like a lot. However, if you religiously undergo a mammogram every year for 10 years, you increase your risk from 10-30% (and some radiation experts feel the danger is much higher than that).
A woman’s breasts are one of her most sensitive areas when it comes to cancers caused by radiation exposure. Modern medicine terrorizes women in a typical male oriented way using testing and treatments that cause cancer to treat breast cancer. Doctors have as little compunction in removing breasts as they do doing C sections or injecting women’s babies with vaccines containing toxic poisons like mercury. The Survival Medicine compendium has 10 chapters that deal with radiation issues, all of which suggests that women avoid unnecessary radiation exposure like the plague.
Dr. Blaylock continues saying that, “by the age of 50, a full 45% of women will have cancer cells in their breasts. This doesn´t mean that all these women will develop breast cancer, because in most women these cancer cells remain dormant. What it does mean is that, if you are one of these 45% of women, you are at high risk of spurring these cancer cells to full activity.”
For women conscious enough to be concerned about the prevention of breast cancer the same natural allopathic treatments used to treat cancer can prevent it. The clash in medical paradigms is intensely focused on this point. You cannot use surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy to prevent breast cancer because all of these cause cancer or increase the likelihood of it spreading. On the other hand magnesium, iodine, selenium and ALA can be used to insure vibrant mammary health. Nothing about orthodox oncology makes any sense unless one is a woman conditioned to passivity in front of male dominated institutions and is simply looking to continue the pattern of abuse.
As we see in the Transdermal Iodine materials Dr. Tullio Simoncini uses iodine effectively in the treatment of breast cancer. He will inject sodium bicarbonate locally around the tumors especially if they are tumors in the deeper tissues. It is the official recommendation of the International Medical Verities Association that all women treat their breasts continually with magnesium and iodine transdermally. Not only will this practically eliminate the chances of cancer in the breasts but it will go a long way to reducing cancer incidences in all corners of the body. Coupled with natural chelation and some other simple natural therapies, cancer can be avoided. Certainly the risk of cancer can be seriously reduced.
Sodium bicarbonate does not offer much in terms of prevention. When it comes to cancer it is more like a fire extinguisher that one pulls off the wall to put out the fire. If you can spray the foam directly onto tumors it will dissolve them.
Massive campaigns exist to encourage women to have annual mammograms. More breast tissue is thus exposed to dangerous cancer causing radiation each year. This yearly ritual generates false positive and false negative results leading to many worthless operations and considerable anxiety in women incorrectly diagnosed. Needle biopsies are often done to evaluate breast masses. This procedure occasionally spreads small foci of tumor along the needle track potentially increasing the spread of tumor cells. Mammograms have had more than adequate time to prove their worth and they have failed miserably.
